I rarely do reviews. This is worthy of the time and effort. I was raised in Lebanese culture. I grew up making Fatayer, Grape leaves, Labne ..kafta picking nana (mint) all of it. Time passed, I moved from the culture. There were so many recipes I wanted and had forgotten. A piece of my childhood. I've searched recipes, went after *countless* cookbooks and it just wasn't the same. Channel surfing one day I found Julie Taboulie cooking show. It brought me here. If you're looking for legit recipes... the things your neighbors make when they invite you over, items Lebo family members made, this is your girl. FINALLY, someone got it right. Authentic, true to the region. Brilliant. I hope she stays on track. She put the *A* back in Authentic. The stuff my grandma used to make! Kindel for myself, Hard Cover for Dad.
I have many Lebanese cook books and many are wonderful but Julie's is special. It's a terrific book that has become my favorite. I highly recommend this marvelous book and I can't wait to try her methods on many of my favorite recipes as well as many I have never made.Thanks Julie
I've been waiting a long time to find authentic Lebanese recipes and finally found it in Julie Taboulie's cook book. It includes baklava, bulgur wheat salad, hummus, falafel, stuffed grape leaves and other favorites of Americans. The 295 pages are filled with tips, how too's, and pictures of how the dish looks when finished. I can't wait to try many of the other delicious looking dishes, especially all those lamb dishes.
The cookbook has easy recipes to follow for the new learner. Pictures are very helpful.
Similar to my mother's cooking. Made many of the recipes and was very pleased.Bought for my family members
I saw the show and HAD to have the book! I live it. There are many vegetarian choices and the spicing is so flavorful . Love it well done and best wishes for the show.
Lebanese food is the tastiest and very healthy as well. Julie Taboulie is the best Lebanese Chef I know of, besides her being a very sweet person.
Julie is a sparkling lady. She is very bright and shares her insights creatively. Meals should be interesting as well as nourishing and attractive. Julie demonstrates how to accomplish this. Her recipes are adventures and are presented in a way that enables intermediate cooks to follow. I wish her book were available in a larger, coffee table version which I would display in my living room.
