About the Author
Priscilla Shirer, maestra de enseñanza bíblica y conferencista, tiene un diploma de Master en Estudios Bíblicos del Seminario Teológico de Dallas. También es reconocida como escritora. Also a popular author, her books include the New York Times Best-Seller, The Resolution for Women, One in a Million, and Life Interrupted. She is also the lead character in the War Room movie. First of all, let me say that I am LOVING this Bible study! I'm only in the second chapter but have already gotten so much out of it that I would rate it 5 stars. I have been writing all over the margins and the pages as God is using this study to talk to me about some issues He has me working on right now. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because it looks like you have to pay $3.99 for each video through Lifeway if you're doing it on your own, which is what I'm doing - and there are 6 sessions. I still think it's completely worth doing the study on your own without the videos so I would still buy this study and work through it even if you don't have the videos. I'm guessing this is a Lifeway policy, not a Priscilla policy, as the author doesn't always have control over things like that when they publish through a traditional publisher. I love Priscilla's thought processes and I love the questions in the book that help you work through whatever it is that God has you working through right now. Would highly recommend this book, with or without the videos!
There was no mention that a DVD goes with this for the bible study. I've been trying to find the DVD that goes along with it, but it looks like you have to buy a box series for something. So I am a bit disappointed.
Priscilla is so down to earth. She talks in my language . Makes me laugh. Yet she pushes you to think. To dig deep with in your life to pull out those times we really need to learn from. Even though we think we may have learned from them at the time she flips the diamond and show us another faucet. This book has been very exciting, thought provoking and I have enjoyed it.
I really enjoyed this study. Our Women's Bible Study Group followed the DVD and the Workbook. The author explored the life of Jonah and presented the account of Jonah's decisions and actions in a historical and contemporary fashion that made us not just examine Jonah, but examine ourselves and our own decisions and actions. It allowed for many thought provoking discussions. The main message was the importance of trusting and obeying God.
This was a good bible study on Jonah. I used it along with downloading the individual video sessions that are available on the publisher's site. There's enough info in the book itself that you don't miss too much if you decide to work through the book on your own without the videos.
Book arrived and was as expected except for smell. The book has a horrible smoke smell. Had to put dryer sheets inside it and set outside because the smell of smoke was making me sick. Smoke smell was so strong it was on my hands after handling book.
I love Priscilla shirer, she is a wonderful, enthusiastic, well spoken speaker. This was a very good informative study. My women's Bible study group thoroughly enjoyed it. We will be doing more of her studies in the future, who knew Jonah could be so interesting?
Great Bible Study which challenges you to see life's interruptions in a positive light. Life doesn’t always turn out like you plan but God knows exactly where you are and has a plan for your path. Priscilla Shirer does a great job making the old testament stories completely relevant and applicable to our lives today. I highly recommend this study!
